Hello, World

Hello, world. This is the new blog for the Miller Orchard Community Garden, located in Iowa City, Iowa.

  1. I guess I can be the first reply and this will be the first time I have written on a blog
My wife, Michelle and I will take care of the mowing so that is off the problem list. We took delivery of a riding mower last week and drove the property late last week. I don't think it will be a problem for us to keep up with it.
I was thinking about the possibility of a water tower to either catch or just store water which then would not need to be pumped. A simple stand for a large tank (like the one that is already out there) would be all it would take. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the reminder about the sickle in the shed. We started to try and deal with weeds in the empty garden plots but did not do well with our tools.
Michelle and I have also discussed torching the poison Ivy to minimize growth. We have the torch and have done it in the past but did not know if any there would be any objections.

  2. Hi! I live just down the street from the garden, and I would love to be a part of the garden this summer! When will we be able to apply for plots and start working? I am very eager and am already starting seeds in doors. I'll follow this blog to see the latest. I also assume there will be a mailing, but I can hardly wait! Thanks!
